[20120329. PET (3) - A beautiful review]

조기위암에서 PET의 유용성은 크지 않습니다. 진행성 위암에서는 간혹 도움이 된다고 합니다. 개인적으로는 결정적 도움을 받은 예가 많지 않습니다. 보여드리고 싶은 증례를 경험하지 못했으므로 대신 멋진 리뷰를 소개합니다 (Lim 2006). CT와 PET 사진을 나란히 배치하고 있어서 보기에 편한 글이었습니다. Open article입니다. 요약의 일부를 옮깁니다.

"Although FDG PET is not an appropriate first-line diagnostic procedure in the detection of stomach cancer and is not helpful in tumor staging, it may play a valuable role in the detection of distant metastases, such as those of the liver, lungs, adrenal glands, ovaries, and skeleton."

사실 건강검진 목적으로 PET를 시행하여 위암을 발견한 예를 보지 못했습니다. 전부 내시경에서 발견되었던 경우입니다. 개인적으로는 폐암(squamous cell carcinoma) 환자의 PET에서 위암을 발견한 경험이 있었을 뿐입니다.

폐암이 stage IV인 관계로 위암에 대한 적극적인 치료는 못했습니다.
