[Gemonics for Precision Oncology]

2014년 10월 17일 삼성서울병원 Genome Institute에서 "Gemonics for Precision Oncology" 심포지엄이 열렸습니다.

통계학자 Peter Park은 아래와 같이 말하고 있었습니다.

The three Vs - volume, velocity, and variety - of "big data" are having a transformative effect in many areas of science and medicine. Assays based on high-throughput DNA sequencing have a potential to positively impact clinical oncology by enabling individualized, genotype-based treatments, but interpretation of data from such assays remains a bottleneck.

Elaine Mardis는 여러 종양과 전이의 유전정보가 다르다는 것을 강조하면서 individualized treatment의 가능성을 언급하였습니다.

Samsung Genome Institute의 박웅양 교수님은 임상 적용 가능성에 중심을 둔 삼성서울병원 Genome 연구소의 flatform을 설명하셨습니다.

유전 정보로 치료방침을 결정하는 시대가 성큼 다가오고 있다는 느낌입니다.

Micro가 잘 되기 위해서는 macro가 잘 되어야 합니다. Micro 시대가 오더라도 내시경이라는 macro도구는 살아남을 것입니다. Micro를 지향하되 macro가 무시되지 않기를 바랍니다. 연구 분야에서는 자꾸 macro가 밀리는 느낌인지라....
