[Gastric cancer 837. Melena due to EGC - Would you take biopsies immediately after the bleeding control?]

60 years old female was referred due to gastric cancer.

Total gastrectomy was done and the final pathology was EGC SM3

Usually, biopsy is not done immediately after the bleeding control. However, 2 or 3 pieces of biopsies can be safely done after hemostasis. It depends on the experience of the endoscopist, and the clinical pathway of each medical institution.

Personally, I recommend to take biopsies immediately after the bleeding control in patiets without definite contra-indication.
